Class 3 - Maths, Science and Fire Brigade

Welcome back, we have started our last half term well – we have begun a new book in class guided reading, begun the first of our two science topics, completed our maths unit of geometry and shape and even had a visit from some firefighters.
In maths we tested our knowledge and understanding to create 3d shapes and used them to compare the number of vertices, edges and faces.
In science, we investigated what light is and how it travels – we are hoping with our new knowledge we may be able to help solve a crime.
Our visitors taught us about fire safety in the home. We learnt how to prevent fires in the home and challenged ourselves to think of escape routes from our own house, should the worst happen – please ask us about what we learnt.
We also got to look around a fire engine and ask about the safety equipment fire fighters use in the different rescues they perform. We had lots of questions.
