Good morning Class Three. Happy Sunny Wednesday! It is meant to be lovely and sunny, so take your learning outside as much as you can today.

I have really enjoyed seeing your marshmallow work; you created some great triangles, prisms, and pyramids! I bet you all enjoyed eating the marshmallows in the end too! Your dedication to TT rockstars has also really impressed me. Lauren, Lily, Eliza S, Eliza St, Max J, Matilda, Jacob, Henry, Ava and Florence all completed many more than just the 5 sessions I had set yesterday!

Spellings
Keep practicing your last selection of common exception words. Remember this will be our last week focusing on these Year 3/4 common exception words so please choose the ones you really want to crack!

Today I would also like you to use each of your words in a sentence - I will be looking for interesting vocabulary and joined-up handwriting. Send a picture of your sentences into the usual email.

 Reading

Take your book outside today if the sun is shining!  Please read for 30 minutes from your current AR home reading book today and quiz if needed. (Remember to keep those quiz scores at 85% or higher!)

If you are beginning to get short on AR reading books then don't dismay. Click here to find our guide which signposts where to go to find free, books and texts on AR. You can also find this information in the Enrichment section of the website!

 PE

Being active is so important for a happy body and a happy mind. So make sure you get active today! Have a look at the below link. There are lots of ideas for different PE type activities that you could do at home.

 Maths

Today I would like you to have a go at the homework task that is set on MyMaths. Please complete the lesson first before trying the homework task. The activities will be a revision for some of you and new learning for others. Remember that mistakes are our best way to learn! If you find yourself disappointed with your score, have another go and look back at the lesson. I look forward to seeing how you get on.

For those of you who are super keen, I have added some challenge cards for you below to puzzle with.

As we are approaching VE Day this Friday it is important for you to understand the significance of this date in our countries history. Please use the links below to find out more.

After watching these we would like you to help prepare some decorations ready to commemorate VE day on Friday. Maybe you could draw a poster or create some bunting. Sophie and I have been doing this today and our window is already looking really smart.  Maybe you could make some union flags or even make your window into a flag? Whatever you create, please make sure you get your parent's permission before starting.

Tomorrow we will be having a day full of activities related to VE celebrations so that you are all prepared for the Bank holiday Friday!

 Learning Project:  The Environment.

Your learning may focus on changes to different environments, the impact of humans on environments, climate change, etc. As usual use these ideas as a starting point but follow your own interests and creative ideas for how you explore this learning.

● Let’s Wonder:
What is the weather like around the world? Which countries are most likely to have a snowstorm, torrential rain, heatwaves etc Find out about natural disasters such as forest fires, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, tornados etc. How is climate change having an effect on the weather and natural disasters?

 ● Let’s Create:
Using recycled materials design and make a recycling mascot to spread the word about the importance and need to recycle. Think about what it is going to look like? Which materials are they going to use? How are you going to join the materials together? Once completed, remember to evaluate your mascot. What would you do differently next time? Which parts did you find the most challenging and why?

 ● Time to Talk:
Discuss environmental issues in the UK. Air pollution, climate change, litter, waste, and soil contamination are all examples of human activity that have an impact in the UK. What are global environmental issues? Various processes that can be said to contribute to the global environmental problems include pollution, global warming, ozone depletion, acid rain, depletion of natural resources, overpopulation, waste disposal and deforestation ... These processes have a highly negative impact on our environment. Decide as a family how you could ‘do your bit’ to look after their environment e.g. you could set up a recycling station in their home; Paper, plastics and glass.

 ● Understanding Others and Appreciating Differences:
Throughout our lives, culture and experience shapes worldviews, children growing up in the Netherlands, for example, have a much different understanding of the role of water in their lives than their peers in the Sahara Desert. The difference between the abundance and scarcity of water in each of these physical environments affects every aspect of their respective cultures, including the global perceptions they will carry with them throughout their lives.
Think about food. How do you think people view food in the UK compared to those living in Ethiopia for example? Research a country where food and water are scarce. Find out about charities that help people in need, Red cross, Christain Aid, Islamic Relief or other charities that are significant to you.

Have a lovely day, soak up that Vitamin D and be kind to everyone around you!
