Class 3- Fountains Abbey Work

10 Jun 2022

The children have come back to school after half term refreshed and ready to continue learning.
We are carrying on our theme work for a few weeks this half term and this week we recapped our previous learning before we looked closely at the mill at Fountains Abbey. The children were able to recall information from our visit and use the internet to find out additional facts.

Next we began to think about the Geography of the abbey. What human and physical geographical features are there at Fountains Abbey? What benefit would these have been to the monks? What features are there now which weren't there when the monks originally arrived?

We then moved on and on Thursday we looked at why the abbey is in ruins today, lots of the children knew it was Henry 8th. So we built on from there we watched a video, sorted the different reasons Henry the 8th had into those linked to religion, power and the economy.

The children carried out their own research and combined that with what they had learnt in their books.

This week was our final swimming session so no need for swimming kits on a Wednesday anymore.

Have a lovely weekend
