Class 3 World Explorers

21 Jan 2022

We have had a busy week in Class 3 again this week.

In Guided Reading we started our new class novel 'Pugs of the Frozen North' last week Miss Rogers would only show us the cover of the book!
Whole Class Reading - Pugs of the Frozen North | Teaching Resources
We used the front cover to make predictions about what we thought would happen and we will see as we read it if we were right.

This week we read the first chapter and were very surprised it wasn't how many of us thought it would start. We used the text to retrieve the answers to questions Miss Rogers had asked. Look at our beautiful presentation. Miss Rogers is very strict that we answer in full sentences and have neat handwriting.

We can't wait to read more next week.

We are looking at Geography this half term and answering the big question 'Who lives in a place like that?' We are focusing on the worlds biomes. After talking about where we live and locating and researching the worlds continents last week we looked at our first biome this week, which was Tundra. First we coloured the world map to show where we would find this biome.

Then the children researched what the climate, vegetation, animals and human activity were like in Tundra biomes. We then looked back at our world map to see which countries had a Tundra biome and in pairs began to research one of them.

The children really impressed me with how well they were able to research in pairs and the range of facts we found out as a class. Here are some examples.

Next we will look at a different biome.
