Awesome Art

I know I say it every week, but we really have had the most lovely week of learning! In theme the children have been practicing their sketching skills whilst copying images of the Egyptian gods.

We then put our sketching and observation skills by completing a picture of Tutankhamen's death mask. I think the children all did a fabulous job 😊

And we didn't stop there! The children then learnt about the proportions of a real human face and had a go at drawing their first portrait. Again, I think you will agree they have done fantastically well!

Next week we will be drawing more portraits, using our sketch books and observation skills to add more details onto the faces as well as try to improve the realism of our pictures.

To finish the topic next Friday, the children will be asked to draw a portrait of someone who inspires them. This could be a family member, a friend or even a famous person such as an athelete, dancer or footballer. To help them draw a family member, they will need to bring in a photograph from home of the person they would like to draw. (It could do with being a close up on the face if possible.)

Have a wonderful weekend!
