Class 4 - Art, writing, drama and more!

23 Jun 2023

Good afternoon,

We have had a lovely week in Class 4.

We have embarked on a fun (and messy) art project that has ignited our creativity. Using modroc, we have been crafting masks inspired by the characters from the Wizard of Oz. When we return from residential, we will start to decorate them.

In our English lessons, we explored the art of journalism by crafting compelling newspaper articles. Our focus was on the mysterious disappearance of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. Through this creative exercise, we honed our writing skills, delved into investigative reporting and captured the essence of storytelling.

As I am sure you can see, we are using our summer production to inspire some of our classroom activities at the moment. We have also been diligently rehearsing, the children are nearly there with learning their lines but if they could keep on practising them that would be really helpful.

In R.E. we have been looking at Humanism. We have engaged in meaningful discussions about the importance of fairness and justice in our lives and society. In our science classes, we continue to explore our intriguing enquiry question including recently dissecting flowers.

On Thursday we had a Pyjama Day in school! It was not only a day of comfort but also an opportunity to make a difference. This special event was organised to raise funds for children living with cancer. As part of the day, we engaged in various activities, including a book quiz to test our literary knowledge and designing our own pyjama patterns, adding a touch of personal creativity to the cause.

Just a few small reminders…

Monday is Sports Day! We will gather together for a day of friendly competition, teamwork, and physical activity. Please remember to come to school dressed in your P.E. kits, ready to join in and have lots of fun.

On Wednesday we are departing for our residential - I am sure you are as excited as we are! I just wanted to remind everyone to pack their favourite teddy bear! I have already packed Joey and he cannot wait! These cuddly companions will join us on this exciting adventure, providing comfort during our trip.

See you on Monday.

Mrs Glover 😊
