A busy week!

12 May 2022

Well, what a week it has been! The Year 6 children have all sat their end of Key Stage 2 statutory assessments this week, and the children have just been amazing!

I am so incredibly proud of their hard work, resilience and perseverance. You have all done your best and that's all that matters - we can forget about them now!

To celebrate the end of SATs, we had a very well deserved fun day in Class 4 today. smiley

This week when not sitting the SATs tests, we have been learning lots more about Ancient Maya.

We began by learning about the Maya's creation story and the Hero twins. Then, we went on to look at their beliefs and religion. We researched some of the main Maya Gods and learnt lots more about them. Here is some of our work...

The children used what they knew and understood about Maya Gods to create their own versions. Here are some of the children's excellent designs...

Next, the children planned to create a sculpture of a Maya God out of clay. The children were able to create a model of one of the original Maya gods or they could create a model of their own God. It was their choice. They really enjoyed making them although parts of it was slightly more difficult than they expected. Here they are at work!

Even though it was difficult, the children created some wonderful sculptures. Here are a few.
