Class Three- Online Safety

24 Apr 2024

In Class this week we had  a workshop from Tim Pinto. The session was very informative and explored lots of different aspects of online safety. Tim began by talking to us about risks in general, he showed us a video of lots of different activities and we had to identify the risks in each one.

The workshop then covered age ratings, we talked about who makes the age rating and why things are given different ratings. Next we discussed how we can communicate with others online. Tim asked the children how they communicated with people using their devices and who it was they were communicating with. He was impressed that lots of us used an app called Stars to talk to our friends, as it has lots of safety features. He discussed the importance of only talking to people who we know in real life.

We aslo shared the different apps and websites that we use. Tim
Online profiles.

The children listened really well and interacted with his questions. We will be following this up in class with more work around online safety.

In PE we have been doing some more work on the Triple Jump. We watched  Johnathon Edwards' record breaking jump and then went out to practise. We focused on the importance of a good run up and taking off on our dominant foot. In pairs one was the invigilator making sure we didn't cross the line, the other was the jumper. Who after a run up, completed the triple jump and placed a marker to show where we hand landed. Our challenge was then to beat our own distance. By the end of the lesson all of us had improved, some by a large amount.
