Francis Brandywine

The children have written some incredibly engaging recount texts this week, inspired by a film called Francis Brandywine. The clip shows the teenager camping in Quetico Park with her family. She decides to take a rowing boat out onto the lake late at night when everyone is asleep. What happens next is unexplained, but the next morning Francis is nowhere to be see. All is left is the empty boat, and her journal with an intriguing clue! 
 
                                 
 
The children each wrote a recount of the story of Francis. They focused on their use of figurative language along with the senses and her feelings to add description. We wanted the reader to feel like they were there with Francis. We have also been thinking about the different ways in which we can open a sentence, and trying to provide variety.
