Friday 22nd January
         Class 4

Happy Friday Class 4! It's nearly the weekend! smiley
I look forward to seeing you all later on our Teams calls.
Remember, we're doing our spelling tests on the call today so please have a piece of paper and a pen/pencil with you.

enlightenedToday looks like...
English - Guided reading on 'The giant's necklace' & spellings. (Please send your guided reading work to me today. You can do this via email at class4@gfschools.co.uk or upload it to Teams in the 'files' section.)
Maths - TT rockstars & Measuring perimeter.
1pm Teams call for Year 6.
1.30pm Teams call for Year 5.
PM - A Quiz & Forest School activity.

Don't forget that you need to do 30 minutes reading today and some physical exercise too. Look at the home learning tab for information about both of these. Remember, you can do these activities at any point during the day.

Remember to look at the daily Collective Worship. You can find it under the News & Events tab on the website, under School News.

Guided reading
We are going to carry on with our guided reading unit about 'The Giant's necklace' by Michael Morpurgo today. Today is the third lesson. Last week, you were making inferences about the text and today you are carrying on with this.

Your learning intention for today's lesson is: To read a text and make inferences.

Here is the link you need. Remember to pause your video whenever you need to.

Spellings
I have got the next week's worth of spellings to give you. I will be doing this week's spelling test with you over Teams this afternoon.
Incase you need them again:
This is Year 5s sheet, list 27.

-Shakespeare and More Spelling Wordlist 27-V316189876.docx-
This is Year 6s sheet, list 31.
-Shakespeare and More Spelling Wordlist 31-V316189901.docx-
Remember that if you are in blue group, you don't use a word list. There is a list of the spelling groups and who is in each group on the first slide on the spelling slides below.

This is the weekly practice sheet that you will need to record your practice, or you could just write them on a piece of paper/ in a book.

  -Weekly recording sheet-V316189969.docx-

Here are the slides that we would usually go through in class, except I've converted them into PP so that you can view them. Read and complete the slides and towards the end you will see this week's spellings. As always, you should write down the 6 I have given you and then select 4 more that follow the same rule from your wordlist above. If you are in blue group, you just practise the 8 spellings I have given you. You should practise them through the week as you normally would, and we will do a test next Friday over teams.
You have also got a spelling task like usual.

These are the answers for yesterday's maths activities:

Today, we are going to start a new unit of maths. It is area, perimeter and volume.

I will be using a range of resources and activities for these lessons. I am conscious that because of last year's lockdown, Year 6 you didn't cover this last academic year either. Therefore, I will be using a mixture of Year 5 and 6 resources, and on some days, like today, you will all be doing the same activity. Once I have a good idea of how you're doing I will adapt it to suit you.

This is today's video on perimeter.

Here is your activity sheet:

Well done to those of you who completed your tt rockstar sessions yesterday - there were 20 of you who did. I have given out the dojos! You each have 5 more sessions to complete today. I will be checking as the day goes on to see how you've done. Here is the link:
