Putting belief into practice

In RE this week, we were learning about the Christian charity, The Leprosy Mission.

Last lesson we heard about the gospel text of 'The Centurion's servant'. In this story, Jesus performed a miracle to heal a Roman man's servant. We discussed how it was significant that it was a Roman man's servant who he had healed, and how Jesus was inclusive and so would help anyone at all. We talked about the different views about miracles that Christians have. 

This week we focused on our question, 'What would Jesus do?' in the context of ill health in the current day. What would Jesus do about illness and disease? This is the question that Christians ask themselves regularly when making their own choices. 

We looked at a Christian charity called 'The Leprosy Mission' as this is a perfect example of how Christians try to follow the teachings of Jesus in daily life. The children researched the charity and found ways in which their mission links up with Jesus's teachings and examples.
