About Class 1

Our Class Teacher is Miss Thewsey. Mrs Longstaff teaches us on Tuesday afternoons. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Peel and Mrs Draper.

Our class is Reception, Year One children and Year two children.

Class 1 is a vibrant, inclusive space where every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to flourish. Blending the curiosity of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with the growing independence of Key Stage 1, we nurture a lifelong love for learning. Through continuous provision, purposeful play, and hands-on exploration, our youngest learners develop essential physical skills, strong communication, and positive personal and social foundations. As children progress into Key Stage 1, we build upon these foundations with an engaging curriculum that fosters mathematical fluency, strong literacy, and critical thinking. We take pride in building a respectful, responsible classroom community where children look after their environment, support one another, and plant the seeds to achieve their biggest dreams.

We show:

  • Responsibility for our belongings and the resources we use.

  • Respect through listening to each other, working together and helping each other.

  • Engagement by trying our best, keeping our work neat and not giving up.

  • Aspiration by asking questions, taking risks and reaching for the stars!
