This week we had a special visit from Mrs M from sporting influence who spoke to us about first aid and how to keep safe. First, we had a look at a first aid kit and thought about what we might need, what each thing was for and whether there was anything missing. After that, we moved on to how we would get help, ringing 999 or going to ask an adult. We role played ringing for an ambulance and saying where we were. Next, we looked at hazards and dangers. We spotted them and said how they could be avoided. Then we moved onto thinking about busy areas and how to stay safe. We practiced describing people should we get lost and talked about asking someone who worked there or a grown-up with a pushchair. Finally, we talked about road safety.

In Geography, year one and two have began a topic in which they will compare the village of Grantley to an African village. So far, we have identified Africa and England on a map and began to think about what our local area is like. Today, we drew some sketches of Grantley village.

In our areas, we have enjoyed making calendars, playing with the blocks and lots of role play.
