About Class 2
Class 2 is made up of a lovely group of Year 3 and Year 4 children who are enthusiastic, hardworking and ready to learn.
Miss Todd is our main teacher, and she teaches us all day on Monday, Tuesday morning, Wednesday morning, Thursday morning and all day Friday. Mrs Lewis teaches us on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, and Mrs Williamson teaches us on Thursday afternoons. We are also supported by Mrs Midgley and Mrs Draper.
Our classroom is a happy, busy and exciting place to be. We work hard to make sure that we show respect, effort, responsibility and aspiration in everything we do, and we are proud of how well we work together.
We show:
Responsibility by taking good care of our things and using our resources sensibly.
Respect by listening carefully, working well with others and supporting each other.
Effort by doing our best, taking pride in our work and not giving up when something is challenging.
Aspiration by asking questions, believing in ourselves and being willing to have a go.
In Class 2, we place a strong focus on developing the children’s core foundational skills, including reading, spelling, writing and times tables, as these are so important in preparing them for Class 3 and beyond. We want every child to grow in confidence and make strong progress across the year, while also enjoying plenty of fun and engaging learning experiences along the way.
We understand that children learn best when they are happy, challenged and supported, so we aim to make our classroom a positive and encouraging place where they can succeed. Alongside our core learning, there will be lots of opportunities for creative activities, practical learning and exciting experiences throughout the year.
PE
PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please could you ensure that your child has a full PE kit, including footwear, in school on those days. Mr Whitford from Sporting Influence teaches us PE on a Thursday afternoon.
Homework
Homework will be set on a Tuesday and will be due on the following Tuesday. Each week, the homework will include spellings and times tables practice. Homework should be completed neatly in pencil. If you need a pencil, please ask and one can be sent home. In addition to spellings and times tables, the children should be reading regularly at home.
Snack
For those children in Key Stage 2, the government don’t provide fruit, like they do for those in Key Stage 1, and sometimes there is spare but not always. If you would like your child to have a snack at morning break, please send in a healthy snack, e.g. fruit.
Coats
Please could children bring a coat with them to school, especially during autumn and winter. This will allow them to go outside as much as possible at break time.
In Class 2, we work hard to build strong foundations, support one another and enjoy learning together each day.
