About class 3
We are an enthusiastic, hardworking class of Year 5 and 6 children.
Mrs Sumner is our main teacher and she teaches us Monday to Thursday. On Fridays Miss Williamson is our teacher. We are also supported by Mrs Brammah and Mrs Midgley.
Class 3 is a vibrant, fun and exciting place to learn. We put a lot of focus on our learning behaviour, and we consistently aim to demonstrate respect, effort, responsibility and aspiration through our learning.
We show:
Responsibility for our belongings and the resources we use.
Respect through listening to each other, working together and helping each other.Effort by trying our best, keeping our work neat and not giving up.
Aspiration by asking questions, believing in ourselves and taking risks.
We take our role as the oldest children in the school very seriously, and aim to always set the right example for our peers.
Expectations are high in our class, and we do have to work hard to ensure that we are fully prepared for secondary school, however we do manage to have a lot of fun as well. We enjoy taking part in sporting competitions, and we attend a variety of these run by the School Sports partnership throughout the year.
Within school there are lots of opportunities for us to take on roles of responsibility. On a whole school level we can volunteer to be on a variety of committees which help shape our school. These include; Collective Worship committee, Charity Committee, School Council and Reading Mentors. We are also buddies for those children who are new to our school. In Class 3 there are lots of roles we can take on; cloakroom monitor, dojo monitor, book monitor and bell monitor.
PE
PE days are on a Thursday. Please could you ensure that your child has a full PE kit, including footwear in school on those days. We swim on a Friday afternoon, please bring your swimming kit to school on a Friday.
Homework
Homework will be set on a Friday and will be due in the following Friday. Each week, the homework will consist of a Maths activity, which will consolidate what we have learnt the week before in school and spellings. Homework should be completed neatly in pencil, if you need a pencil please ask and I can send one home. In addition to Maths and spellings the children should be reading regularly at home.
Snack
For those children in Key Stage 2, the government don’t provide fruit, like they do for those in Key Stage 1, sometimes there is spare but not always. If you would like your child to have a snack at morning break please send in a healthy snack e.g. fruit.
Coats
Please could children bring a coat with them to school, especially during autumn and winter. This will allow them to go outside as much as possible at break time.
In Class 3 we work hard, look out for each other and have fun.

Class Three- Week 2
We have been enjoying our trumpet lessons on a Tuesday. We are developing our skills and improving each week. Class Three- First Week Back
We have had a super first week back in Class Three! The children have really impressed me with how quickly they have settled back in after 7 weeks off. Class Three- Sports
In Class Three, we have spent lots of time this week and last doing sports. We have had our weekly PE lessons with Mr Whitford, where we have been looking at athletics, both track and field. Class Three- Leeds Art Gallery
On a very warm Wednesday this week we boarded the lovely air conditioned coach and set off for Leeds Art Gallery. We began our day making origami books, which we would use to record our thoughts and ideas. We then went to explore the Victorian painting gallery. Class Three- World Cup 2026
World Cup fever has hit Class Three, we have spent time learning about the 2026 World Cup and how it is the first time it is being jointly hosted by 3 countries. We looked at the history of the World Cup and found out the first tournament was held in Uruguay and that they won it. England have only won it once, in 1966. But Brazil have won it 5 times. Class Three- Triathlon & Martial Arts
Last week we had a very busy Friday. Firstly, we spent the morning at the Hydro taking part in the Brownlee Triathlon. The children got the opportunity to try out the 3 disciplines. Class Three- Descriptive Writing
This week in English, we have begun our next unit of work, Narrative. We have been reading the book Kensuke's Kingdom and are going to use this a stimulus in our writing. Class Three - Grammar and Maths

Class Three- Statistics

Class Three- Final Week
This week may have only been a short one, but we have certainly fit a lot in. On Tuesday the children who expressed an interest went to Outwood and took part in a Cross Country competition, against lots of local schools. Class Three- Assessment Week and Science
Class Three have worked so hard this week to demonstrate their knowledge and ability across the core subjects. Class Three- RE Workshops & Maths
On Tuesday we took part in a workshop about the life of Jesus. The children sat and listened really well to the adults leading the workshop. We spent time learning about the miracles that Jesus worked. We met some of the people from the Bible who came to life and explained their stories. We have had a lovely week in Class Three, on Tuesday we went to Lime Tree Farm to visit their planetarium.
