We have had a good first week back. We are continuing to read Malamander in Guided Reading and now we are also going to use the book as a stimulus for our writing. In Maths we are continuing with our work on fractions.
Our block subject for the beginning of this half term is Geography. In Geography, we are looking at the big question ' Where in the world are we?' We began by looking at the continents and main oceans of the earth. We looked at our exact location on the earth, starting from a whole globe level and zooming in to finish by pinpointing our house and school on a local area map.
Next we looked at lines of longitude and latitude. We used Google Earth to complete a scavenger activity and put in co ordinates to find what was in each location. In the next lesson, we looked at the Equator, the children were very knowledgeable about this and we explored differences between countries near the Equator and those further away.

Finally we looked at the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.
Next week is a very busy week, it is Anti Bullying Week and here is a break down of what is happening when.
Monday- Odd Sock Day
Tuesday- Parents Evening
Wednesday- Parents Evening
Thursday- Sarah Cox's Children in Need Run & PTA treat
Friday- Children In Need (please see the separate letter sent out by school for more details)
Have a great weekend
