Class 2 Art Week
It has been a very creative week in Class 2. The children have been exploring different printing techniques and learning new skills. We looked at the art of Henri Matisse and discussed the printing techniques he used to create some of his art. At the start of the week the children learnt the technique of mono-printing. After their initial prints, the children used mono-printing to create a background for their picture.

Art Week
This week, we have enjoyed art week which focused on printing. In year one and two, we began by studying the artist Andy Warhol and his artwork inspiration. The children spent time researching his life and work, focusing on his printwork of the cans of soup. Forest Schools
Class one have loved their sessions of Forest Schools. They have been out in the sun, rain and ice but that hasn't stopped their fun. They have made lots of exciting dens, spotted things in nature and enjoyed learning how to use some of the tools.

Class Three- English Writing
We have just finished writing our narratives with a mythical creature in them. We were inspired by the book Malamander, which we have been reading in class. Children In Need
There was great excitement in school on Thursday as the children tracked the progress of Sara Cox as she took on her Great Northern Marathon Challenge. They made banners to welcome her as she ran past the school and enjoyed the ice creams organised by the PTA.

Class 2 News
This week has been all about maps! We have been learning to use the key on the OS map of the local area to identify symbols and other geographical features. The children have loved using the maps to identify local landmarks and understand their locations in relation to the school or their houses. This week we looked at our World Religion for 2025-2026, Hinduism. This week's learning included learning where and when the religion started. We then compare this to where Hindus can be found today. We have had a great DT week! At the beginning of the week the children found out about how some of the food we eat comes from all over the world. We talked about the importance of eating seasonal food and how this can help reduce the air-miles involved in transporting food to the UK. What a wonderful week we have had this week! The children have enjoyed DT week learning lots about seasonality and making some yummy food. In reception we made a delicious apple cake. This morning, we left school slightly earlier and drove to Bolton Castle picking Grewelthorpe up along the way. On arrival it was like we had gone back in time and we were immersed in the Tudor times.
