Class Three - Grammar and Maths
This week we have been working incredibly hard in English and Maths and have been revising some of the topics we learnt in earlier in the year. In Maths, we have looked at fractions, long multiplication, roman numerals, area, perimeter, circles and percentages. Class 2 - Bringing History to Life with a Trip to Fountains Abbey!
Class 2 had a wonderful trip to Fountains Abbey today, and it was a brilliant way to see our classroom learning in the real world! We began our morning with a tour of the abbey, exploring the different rooms and learning about all the features we had spotted on our maps earlier this term. Great Fire of London Workshop
The children had a fantastic day exploring life in 1666. We began with an enthusiastic discussion about clothing from the period before moving on to how the Great Fire started and the key figures involved. Class 2 - History
Class 2 have been stepping back in time this week during our History lesson. The children have been studying maps of Fountains Abbey to understand why it was built in such a specific location. By looking closely at the landscape, the children identified the natural features that made it the perfect spot for the monks. Class Three- Statistics
This week in Class Three we have finished our first Maths unit of the term, statistics. This topic has involved looking at range of graphs: line graphs, bar charts, pie charts, tables and timetables. Class 2 have settled back into school well and have been very busy this week. We have begun a local history unit about Fountains Abbey. Easter fun in class one
This week has been DT week with a focus on levers and sliders. We began the week by thinking about different mechanisms and how they work, looking at books and cards which have them. We decided that our aim by the end of the week was to make an Easter card using either a lever or a slider. Class 2 - Cross Country at Outwood
A group of children from Class 2 had a very active trip to Outwood Academy in Ripon this week. They took part in a Cross Country competition organised by Sporting Influence. The children who attended did a fantastic job representing the school, showing great determination as they tackled the course. It was a brilliant opportunity for them to get outside, get active, and compete alongside other local schools. Well done to everyone who took part—we are very proud of your effort

Class Three- Final Week
This week may have only been a short one, but we have certainly fit a lot in. On Tuesday the children who expressed an interest went to Outwood and took part in a Cross Country competition, against lots of local schools. They were brilliant ambassadors of our school and our Y5/6 boys took lots of the top 20 places. It has been a very busy week in Class 2. The children have worked very hard doing their assessments. We have been very impressed with their attitude and they have all shown great resilience. Class Three- Assessment Week and Science
Class Three have worked so hard this week to demonstrate their knowledge and ability across the core subjects. This week we have spent lots of time doing our termly assessments and the Year 6s used this as a practise for their SATs in May. It has been another lovely week in class one. We are enjoying the sunshine! Class 2 - Finishing our Bear Island Leaflets.
Class 2 have had another very industrious week. The children have been continuing and finishing their information leaflets all about Bear Island. Linked to our class book, The Last Bear , the children have been using persuasive language to inform readers about the polar night, travel and work on the island, and the local wildlife. Week 3
On Monday, we enjoyed an acro session with Miss Chloe. We leant that this involves acrobatics and dancing. It was lots of fun! We used the mat to practice our jumps and forward rolls. Class Three- RE Workshops & Maths
On Tuesday we took part in a workshop about the life of Jesus. The children sat and listened really well to the adults leading the workshop. We spent time learning about the miracles that Jesus worked. We met some of the people from the Bible who came to life and explained their stories.
