Class 2 Art Week
It has been a very creative week in Class 2. The children have been exploring different printing techniques and learning new skills. We looked at the art of Henri Matisse and discussed the printing techniques he used to create some of his art. At the start of the week the children learnt the technique of mono-printing. After their initial prints, the children used mono-printing to create a background for their picture.

Class 2 News
This week has been all about maps! We have been learning to use the key on the OS map of the local area to identify symbols and other geographical features. The children have loved using the maps to identify local landmarks and understand their locations in relation to the school or their houses. A Very Busy Week!
Class 2 participated in the Football Festival at Outward Academy and Started work on our Geography topic, 'Why are we never lost?'. The children have been learning about compass points and using them to give each other directions.

DT Week
We have had a great DT week! At the beginning of the week the children found out about how some of the food we eat comes from all over the world. We talked about the importance of eating seasonal food and how this can help reduce the air-miles involved in transporting food to the UK. Class 2 work week beginning Monday 6th October
This week we have started a new unit on writing instructions in English. To begin the unit we decided to follow a set of instructions about how to make an origami koala bear book mark. This was a challenge! We are very lucky to have Poppy in our class, who is an origami expert. She provided advice and supported us all through some of the more tricky parts of the process. Week Beginning Monday 29th September
This week we have been learning about how the Ancient Greeks governed themselves in Athens. We found out about how they voted and how a Democracy was formed. The children have exercised their own democratic right by voting for the members on the School Council and meeting in their chosen committee to make plans for the school year.
