Today we have celebrated World Book Day,

The children looked brilliant in their costumes, thank you so much for your effort in helping them look fantastic. The Reading Mentors decided on 1 best dressed winner from each class.

We spent our day completing lots of different activities. During the morning, the children all took part in a Where's Wally scavenger hunt. There were 10 different people/ objects to find, some of them were very tricky to find, but the children worked together to find all ten.

We were very lucky today to have a visit from an author, she ran theatre workshops with each class. Class 1's workshop was based around the book 'Where the wild things are'. The children enjoyed retelling the story with drama. We created the forest, the sea and the monsters thinking about how Max was feeling at each point. Class 2 and 3 had a workshop based on her own book Cloud Tales. They used their bodies for physical theatre and used their imaginations to create ideas of our own.

Each child also created their own World Book Day potato character. There was one winner from each class, who was awarded a £5 voucher for Ripon Bookshop.

Class Three also took part in the Premier League's big football/book online quiz. In small teams we competed against 100s of other schools and lots of our groups showed a brilliant knowledge achieving great scores.

There were lots of other activities happening in school, the children listened to familiar rapped by MC Grammar, complete book related challenges and code breakers and they designed their own bookmarks and book tokens.

Class one and two enjoyed some shared reading.

It really has been a lovely day in school!
