We have made it to the end of a busy half term. This last week in school has been art week and the children have been focusing on painting. We began by finding out about famous British artist, David Hockney and his artwork.

The children carried out some super research and presented their work in different ways. We then looked closely at some examples of his work annotating our own thoughts and what we had found out about the pieces.

Then we began our art skills learning. First we explored perspective, identifying the different points of reference and we had a go at creating a simple sketch using perspective. Then, we practised cross hatching, pointillism and different brush strokes to add texture.

Our final piece of work was to create a landscape painting based on David Hockney's Garrowby Hill. Using different painting techniques to add colour and texture.

As well as art week, it was also Safer Internet Day on Tuesday. This year's theme is Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.

The children all joined in a CW in the morning and then we did lots of different activities in the morning, where the children worked in pairs to match words and definitions. They read scenarios and in groups wrote down what advise they would give to each person. We also completed crosswords, made posters and spent time exploring AI and cyberbullying.

Have a great half term!
