Class one has had an action-packed week. We have enjoyed being back at school and sharing all of the exciting things we did in our week off. It sounds like you all had lots of fun and were very busy.

Our year ones and twos have been working hard in science this week. Their topic has been animals, including humans. The have completed two lessons this week all about animals. The first lesson was considering the types of animals there are. The children enjoyed working scientifically to categories animals into the 5 groups: amphibians, reptiles, fish, mammals and birds. In the following lesson, we thought about what animals eat. We identified animals as herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. Again, the children liked grouping the animals and some children wrote about what the different animals eat.

In reception, we learnt all about bonfire night. We talked about how it is celebrated, how to keep safe and the history of the gun powder plot. The children talked about visiting bonfires and watching fireworks. Then we made our own firework pictures using chalk and black paper.

In their areas, the reception have enjoyed making “police campervans”, dens, playing teachers and much more! The reception have also been doing some super reading!
