Week 7
Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been learning all about instructions — looking closely at how they are structured, who reads them, and why we write them.
This week, we put our learning into action! First, we had fun (and got a little sticky!) making delicious jam sandwiches. Afterward, the children wrote out their very own step-by-step instructions. They did a fantastic job using clear action words and keeping their instructions easy for a reader to follow.
In Maths this week, our Reception children turned into monster creators!
They rolled a dice to decide how many body parts to add to their monsters — rolling for eyes, legs, arms, and horns! The monsters were very funny.
This week, Class 1 turned into scientists to find out which materials soak up water. We learned how to do a "fair test" by using the exact same amount of water for every material. We found that sponges were the most absorbent, while plastic and foil are waterproof.
