Wow, well we have made it! What a half-term it has been. The children have made us so proud with how well they have settled into school and got stuck in. The year ones and twos have been the most wonderful role models to our reception. Our lovely reception children have made the best start to school. They have made new friends, learnt so much and showed us all how fantastic they each are.
In Maths, year one and two have been looking at tens and ones. We have practiced counting in tens and creating numbers with base 10. The children have learnt lots about the composition of number. The year twos are getting very confident with this and have been beginning to problem solve.
This week we have also been looking at the weather in Geography, thinking about how the weather changes in the UK. The children started by thinking about the seasons and how this links to changes in the weather. The children enjoyed sorting weather and other key elements by seasons in groups. We also made posters to show how each season is different. Meanwhile, everyday we tracked the weather too.
In PSHE, reception have been discussing responsibility this week. We talked a lot about how we show responsibility for animals, others, our belongings and so on. The children then planted some cress seeds to grow. They will be responsible for helping them to grow.
In our areas, reception have been busy building houses, painting and doing lots of writing. They are particularly enjoying doing their own phonics lessons too.
