This morning, we left school slightly earlier and drove to Bolton Castle picking Grewelthorpe up along the way. On arrival it was like we had gone back in time and we were immersed in the Tudor times.

During the day we learnt lots of information about the Tudors and were able to demonstrate confidently what we had learnt during our work in school. When we arrived we got dressed in some Tudor style clothing and we gathered outside to learn the drill the soldiers would have done to march Mary Queen of Scots into the Castle. Tommy was made our officer and was very good at giving us our instructions. Archie and Duncan were the Queen's guards and we marched the Queen into the castle just as they did all that time ago.

Then we took part in the mock trial of Mary and had to decide if she was guilty of writing the casket letters. We decided she was and so signed her death warrant.

Lunch was held Tudor style, the Lord and Lady were seated in the thrones, Grace was said and we had our packed lunch alongside some Tudor extras. The boiled eggs were very popular.

In the afternoon we made pomanders, played games, tried on armour and practised using the sword.

This trip marked the end of our work on the Tudors and next week we are focusing on DT- Food Technology. Thank you to parents for dropping the children off early and collecting them later than usual.

It is our Harvest Festival on Tuesday 14th at 9am and parents are invited to join us. There was also a request sent out from Miss Thewsey to ask if anyone had any cooking apples, eggs or vegetables that anyone was happy to donate for us to use during our cooking next week.

Have a great weekend!
