This half term our focus in History is the Vikings, but this has also extended into our English lessons. In Guided Reading, we are reading the book 'Viking Boy' by Tony Bradman. We have been exploring different chapters, exploring new vocabulary, working on our fluency and expression and answering a range of comprehension questions.

The book is also the inspiration for our writing lessons, this half term we are looking at historical narratives. The children have thought about the purpose, audience and features of this genre. We have then focused on some of the grammatical features they use, such as dialogue to advance action, using a range of sentence starters, using commas and writing in paragraphs.

Next week we will plan, write and edit our own short historical narratives.

Have a great weekend!

Don't forget next week, we have Forest Schools on Wednesday and the trip to the Gurdwara on Friday.
