Art and poetry

08 Nov 2023

This week has been Art week in school and we have used Bonfire Night as inspiration for our pieces of work.
We began our unit by looking at the patterns of Klee and Kandinsky. We considered what the pieces were of, how they made us feel, whether they were organised, the shapes used and much more. The children reflected on each piece and wrote these down.

Next we began to create artwork to music. The music inspired us and changed the way we saw the artwork.

In English, we have been building up to writing poems on Bonfire Night. We used a poem as inspiration and spent several weeks before half-term unpicking the key elements and writing in the same style. The poem has 5 vesus, each with a different focus:
- feeling
- seeing
- hearing
- movement
-gathering.

We planned our poems around those 5 points then wrote our own.

In our areas, we have been doing lots of writing. The children have been writing each others names and creating lots of lovely stories.  The reception have also been getting creative.
