Week 2 - Autumn term

16 Sep 2021

We have had another busy week in Class 1 smiley

This week we have been continuing to find out about our classroom and each other, learning routines and the rules to keep our classroom a happy place.

We shared some of our favourite books from home and used the reading corner with our friends.

We shared a book 'Can I build another me?' And used this to discuss our body parts, what we look like and the things we like and dislike. Then we used junk materials to make robots and other interesting inventions too.

We have also explored shapes and used our cutting skills too. We used language to describe the shapes and pictures we had created.

This week we have also begun to learn some phonemes in phonics. The children have been trying really hard to write their letters and also their own names. This weekend can you encourage your child to practise recognising and writing their name and see if they can find objects around the home beginning with the same sound as their name.
Remember to add a picture to evidence me to show what they have achieved at home this week enlightened

Next week I will be working with the children to complete the Reception Baseline Assessment. This is a statutory assessment from September 2021 which provides a snapshot of where children are when they arrive at school. It is then used to measure the progress a child makes by the end of primary school.
In order to complete this assessment, I will be working out of class with one child at a time. The assessment should only take around 20 minutes. There is an information leaflet in your child's book bag but if you have any further questions, please ask.

Have a lovely weekend, See you on Monday when we will be welcoming a new member of our class!
