An inspiring week of writing

28 Sep 2022

Another busy week in class one. The children are really settled and loving learning. They have developed lovely friendships within our class and in wider school.

In English, the children have loved listening to lots of stories with familiar setting. We have already read so many stories and used them to inspire our learning. This week's book has been very popular, we have read and completed some writing around the story Dogger. The children enjoyed listening to the book, sharing the names of their favourite teddies, making predictions about what would happen next, describing Dogger and sequencing the story. All our lessons over the last few weeks have focused on a book to spark the children's imagination and support their writing; This week was no different!

In our areas, this week we have particularly liked playing with the play dough as well as getting creative indoors and outside. The children have made cakes for the babies in the home corner, they have cut out shapes and so much more. Outside this week, we had some pipettes and coloured water set up. We enjoyed mixing the colouring and making pictures in a different way.

Just a reminder that homework and reading books are collected in on a Monday to be changed. We will also be starting KIRFS with year one next week. This is used to support children's mathematical understanding.  We have already done some in school so the children have already worked their way through many of the objectives. If you could help you child to practice their objectives at home that would be very helpful. I have attached some documents below to help. If you have any questions, please let me know.
