<p>We were extremely lucky this week to welcome another visitor into our school….this time from Peru! Sonia is a teacher in Lima, Peru and she spent some time with us finding out about UK primary schools and teaching the children a traditional peruvian dance.</p>

<p>Thank you to Rose, our Ugandan visitor, who is a director of a school in Kampala, Uganda. Rose spent a day with each class Mon-Wed this week to see how primary-aged children learn in UK schools. We will keep in touch with Rose and have set up a link with her school &#8211; more to [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Last Friday Julian Smith joined us in school and discussed leadership and his role as an MP with the Class 2 and Class 3 children. Class 2 children wrote to Julian to thank him for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Roecliffe school. Julian has sent us a reply</p>

<p>With ‘Blue Monday’ on the horizon (the third Monday in January is said to be the saddest day of the year) we have celebrated our very own Well-being Day at Roecliffe with a number of activities and events.</p>

<p>We invited Julian Smith MP to visit our wonderful school to see how we learn and to meet our Class 2 and Class 3 children so that they could find out more about Democracy and leadership.</p>

<p>Wednesday was a very busy day! The children enjoyed Christmas dancing,  Christmas dinner and a visit from Santa! </p>

<p>Our Class 3 children visited the residents at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home to wish them all a very merry Christmas this week. Our children delivered their own hand-made Christmas cards and sang Christmas tunes to entertain the staff and residents.</p>

<p>Class 1 children in nursery, reception and Year 1 wowed their families with beautiful singing and amazing acting at their nativity performance. The children wrote their own nativity play, and designed and made the costumes, props and scenery with the help of the wonderful staff in Class 1. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Class 3 children spent a day at Queen Ethelburgas taking part in a Science Technology Engineering Maths (STEM) day. The children took part in all sorts of STEM activities including making a bath bomb!</p>

<p>Class 2 and Class 3 children were very entertained at the Dick Whittington pantomime at Harrogate Theatre this week. It was wonderful to see so much laughter and excitement on the children’s faces! Thank you FORCES for funding this event.</p>

<p>Our choir sang Christmas carols at the Boroughbridge Christmas Lights Switch On last night and they did amazing, thank you to all the children and parents.</p>

<p>A huge well done to all of our children from Reception to Year 6 for their efforts during the Cross Country tournament at Boroughbridge High School on Wednesday. We are very proud of your determination to run your fastest for a long, long way! &nbsp;</p>

<p>We learned about the Bible story of Sarah and Abraham in our Collective Worship today when we thought about Advent. It&#8217;s almost here! &nbsp;</p>

<p>Today our Class 3 children visited the residents of Boroughbridge Manor Care home, they have had a fun morning of playing games of dominoes, colouring and completing wordsearches together. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Thank you to family members who joined us at our remembrance service today. Well done to our pupils who reflected and paid their respects to the many people who have given so much to protect our own country during past wars.</p>

<p>Reception and Year 1 children enjoyed a wonderful theatrical experience when they went to see Stick Man at the Theatre Royal, York this week. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Congratulations and a huge well done to the Roecliffe High Five Netball Team for being placed second in this week’s High Five netball tournament against other local primary schools. Roecliffe’s nifty netballers will now be joining other finalists at the regional High Five netball tournament at Ashville College on Tuesday 5th December.</p>

<p>Thank you to P.C Jack and his colleagues from North Yorkshire Police for visiting us today to remind us about staying safe during Halloween, around bonfires and about road safety. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Thank you to all the parents that joined us for our pupil led worship yesterday. Our Faith council introduced the worship, Class 2 acted out the Parable of the Sower and Class 3 acted out the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard.</p>
