The children had a fantastic day exploring life in 1666. We began with an enthusiastic discussion about clothing from the period before moving on to how the Great Fire started and the key figures involved. The class loved getting hands‑on with the artifacts flint and stone, ink and quills, bread trays, butter churners and many more items that brought the past to life.
After playtime, we learned about what everyday life and schooling looked like in 1666. The children then had the chance to ask our expert lots of thoughtful questions.
In the afternoon, we switched to art. The children used watercolours to paint their backgrounds and added layered shapes to complete their final pieces. The results were wonderful.
A huge thank you to all parents for supporting us by dropping off and picking up from Grewelthorpe and also to our wonderful PTA.
