In computing, year one and two have been looking at programming. They have enjoyed using software called scratchjr to create a sequence of actions for a character. We have used our computer skills to drag the icons across the screen and then building on from it. The children enjoyed exploring the different movements, sounds and messages the character could do.

In English, we have been using the story of Vlad and the Great Fire of London. We have liked the retelling of the story from the fleas point of view. In lessons, we considered the audience, purpose and key feature of the story before looking at key vocabulary. Next week, we are going to write our own narratives.

Reception have looked at the story of The Three Little Pigs. They have been using this within their play, building houses and seeing if the “wolf” can blow them down. They also did some lovely writing to retell parts of the story.

In Maths, reception have been learning to subitise number 6. We talked about what subitising means: seeing the amount, not counting. The children are fantastic at it. They also spoke about the composition of numbers to 6 and are confident with their number bonds. We enjoyed doing some maths activities in the sunshine.
