World Cup fever has hit Class Three, we have spent time learning about the 2026 World Cup and how it is the first time it is being jointly hosted by 3 countries.
We looked at the history of the World Cup and found out the first tournament was held in Uruguay and that they won it. England have only won it once, in 1966. But Brazil have won it 5 times.
The children enjoyed finding out that the World Cup was stolen in 1966, from an exhibition in London and it was a dog called Pickles who found it.
We then began looking at the countries taking part. There are 48 countries this year, increasing from the usual 32. The children each chose 2 countries in our class sweepstake. They then researched one of their countries, finding out lots of information about their country. The children were given a range of ways that they could present their information to me, including poster, double page spread or ppt.
Here are some examples of their work.
