Class Three- Murton Park
Today we had a wonderful day at Murton Park. From the second we stepped off the coach we became trainee Roman soldiers. We learnt the Roman march chants and marched towards the Roman fort.
Once we arrived at the fort we were greeted by the Centurian, who sent us to our barracks, where we would live for 25 years. We put on our Roman outfits and lined up outside. Then we went to the main hut and learnt lots about how the Roman's arrived in Britain and what life would have been like.
We were then given our shields and spears and put through some drills. The children had great fun practising launching the javelins and practising sword fighting.
We then practised our Latin writing and Roman numerals as we had to sign our Roman army contracts. We also made our own clay oil pots.
When we had finished, these activities we all assembled on the parade square and performed a tortoise movement.
