On a very warm Wednesday this week we boarded the lovely air conditioned coach and set off for Leeds Art Gallery.

We began our day making origami books, which we would use to record our thoughts and ideas. We then went to explore the Victorian painting gallery. Our workshop leader, Amanda talked to us about art galleries and about the paintings, we looked closely at some of the paintings, drawing key features of some of the pictures. We then discussed what we can learn about history from them.

We then looked at some modern art called M62 and thought about what it meant.

After lunch we explored the sound exhibition and then went to the potrait gallery. The children practised creating secondary colours with their pencil crayons. They looked closley at the portraits drawing the parts which they found the most interesting. Then we went to the sculpture gallery where we sketched the sculputure we liked best, looking carefully at its shape and then its shadow and trying to draw those accurately.

When we got back to school we were very grateful for our ice lollies, which were very kindly donated by our super PTA.
