Class Three- Art Week
We have had a great week this week. It has been art week in school and so we have spent lots of our lesson time focusing on art.
For this art week, we were thinking about Black History Month and the Windush generation. The children learnt about Windrush and were very intrested in what they found out. Hurvin Anderson was the artist we were thinking about. His parents and 7 siblings were part of the Windrush generation. The children researched Hurivn and spent time exploring his artworks.
We then got out the paintbrushes and explored colours, learning about primary, secondary and tertiary colours. The children created their own colour wheels.
We then closely examined Hurvin Anderson's identity painting and began to think how we could create a painting with a similar meaning. Our paintings would represent London on one side and Kingston Jamaica on the other. The first step was to plan our artwork, then we sketched it out, painted it and then evaluated our work.
Alongside this, some of the children took part in a Y5/6 football competition against Grewelthorpe and we all helped our school run the marathon distance, inspired by the Yorkshire Marathon.
Next week is a shorter week, with school finishing at 3pm on Thursday. So there is no swimming, this week was our last session.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs Sumner
