Class 2 have been stepping back in time this week during our History lesson. The children have been studying maps of Fountains Abbey to understand why it was built in such a specific location.
By looking closely at the landscape, the children identified the natural features that made it the perfect spot for the monks. They explored the importance of the River Skell, the surrounding rock, and the layout of the land that provided everything the abbey needed to thrive.
The children were excellent at spotting these details and enjoyed figuring out the "why" behind the ruins we see today.
It was a great way to bring our local history to life!
