<p>Congratulations to our Nursery children for being presented with a very important certificate from Beth at Phunky Foods to show that they have completed their healthy foods workshops this half term. Our Nursery children have learned all about different healthy foods and enjoyed trying new tastes and textures of fruits and vegetables.</p>

<p>Well done to our Year 6 pupils for trying your hardest this week in the SATs tests! We hope that you achieve the outcomes you deserve and wish you lots of happy memories in your final half term at Roecliffe.</p>

<p>Class 1 children and Nursery children enjoyed a trip to Monk Park Farm today to enhance their learning about animals this half term. We held some animals and saw them up close, and we also helped with tasks on the farm and learned how to care for some of the animals. </p>

<p>There has been much excitement in Class 1 this week as we witnessed the hatching of our six eggs! On Sunday and Monday all six of the chicks finally hatched in their incubator and the children have been holding the chicks and observing them throughout the week. We are looking forward to seeing how they [&hellip;]</p>

<p>The Reception and Year 1 children were amazing athletes at a Sporting Influence tournament at Staveley CE Primary School this week. We are very proud of their efforts and the children had a fantastic time!</p>

<p>Nursery children had a fantastic time with Beth at Phunky Foods this week making a yummy fruit treat!</p>

<p>Today we welcomed the Dogs Trust who came to talk to all of us about how to be safe when we are near dogs. We enjoyed listening to a dog safety presentation in our Collective Worship and then we took part in class workshops this afternoon. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Well done and thank you to all of the children who entered the Road Safety Poster Competition &#8211; you all worked very hard to produce vibrant and informative posters which would support our message to drivers of ‘Slow down!’ We are delighted to announce that Michalina in Class 2 is our winner and Michalina’s poster [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Many thanks to Neil Atkinson from Sporting Influence who provided First Aid workshops for all our children (Nursery &#8211; Year 6) this week. The younger children in Class 1 learned about how to ring 999,  whilst our older children in Class 2 and Class 3 learned about CPR and how to put someone in the [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Having caught an early train from Thirsk, the staff and children packed in an eventful day as they walked 7 miles around London visiting: the London Eye, Westminster and the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace (including changing of the guard!) and St James’ Park, Piccadilly Circus and Chinatown.  As a grand finale to our day, [&hellip;]</p>

<p>Thank you so much to T. J. Hardaker Joinery and Evelyn and Jack’s daddy for helping us to renovate our gazebo near the Class 1 classroom over the Easter holidays. <p>A huge well done goes to our Class 3 netballers who took part in the Sporting Influence finals tournament at Ashville College this week. Our netballers gave 100% and we are very proud of their efforts!</p>

<p>Well done to our Class 3 pupils for entertaining the residents at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home today. Class 3 children created a wonderful Easter Egg Hunt for the residents at the care home and helped them to find their chocolate egg. We are very proud of Class 3 for their kindness and showing one of [&hellip;]</p>

<p>&nbsp; Thank you to parents for joining us for our Easter Service, we also said goodbye to Rev Karen who is moving to be nearer family. She will be greatly missed in our collective worships. &nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>This week is British Science Week and we have been putting our scientific skills to the test today with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) afternoon.</p>

<p>Thank you to Rev Karen for teaching us the story of Palm Sunday in our Collective Worship. &nbsp;</p>

<p>It&#8217;s not World Book Day without some fantastic outfits and t-shirts! Well done to everyone for dressing as your favourite character or designing a t-shirt with your favourite book.</p>

<p>Paul, a retired firefighter, came and talked to us in Collective Worship about this half term&#8217;s school value: Courage. He told us about times when he had to have courage in his job and gave us opportunities to ask questions.</p>

<p>Class 2 &amp; 3 had a fantastic day yesterday visiting Leeds Grand Mosque. Our Focus Faith this year is Islam and the children have expanded their understanding of the Islamic faith by experiencing the daily prayers and religious activities within this Muslim place of worship.</p>
