Maths Challenge Question:

If you have finished your work and would like to do a maths problem, here's  a challenge to try:

Challenge:

When you have finished , you can check your answers with an adult.
(Parents, answers at the bottom of this page)

Sumdog
Today, I would also like you to log into Sumdog maths for fifteen minutes.
Play the games to practise your knowledge of number facts and to help you speed up with your instant recall facts..

English - Write a description using adjectives
Yesterday, you did some work about adjectives.  Adjectives are describing words. You thought about some adjectives to describe things in The Runaway Iceberg story.

Today, we're going to think about adjectives to describe a monster!
Have a look at the monster in this picture:

Read the adjectives that could be used to describe a monster.
Which ones would you choose to describe this monster?
We could write:

The monster has a spotty tail.  or   He has got tiny toes.

Year 1 -Please write three sentences to describe the monster in the picture.
Make sure each sentence has a describing word!

Don't forget:
Capital letters to start sentences and for names.
Full stops to end sentences.
Finger spaces.
Make sure your sentences make sense.
Then draw a picture of the monster.

Year 2 - Design your own monster and then write sentences to describe it.
You could use some of the descriptions from the list or make up your own.

I'm looking forward to meeting your monsters!

This is the work that I would like you to send to me today please.

Spelling and Phonics

Please practise this week's spellings.  Fill in the words on the spelling log for Day 4.

You might like to practise your phonics by spending some time on phonics play.

Practice the sounds and blend words, using the interactive games found on the link below:

Year 1 -
Choose games in phases 3 and 4
Year 2 - Choose games from Phase 5

Reading

Please spend at least 20 minutes each day on reading or sharing a book with an adult.
If you have finished your school reading book, you can read books that you have at home or access books online.
Please see https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/  Free ebooks

Year 2 – Don’t forget to do an AR quiz when you have finished your reading book.   https://ukhosted79.renlearn.co.uk/6706937/

Here is today's book for sharing:

The Elves and the Shoemaker.

Did you notice which materials the elves and the shoemaker were using?

Science - Everyday Materials and Their Uses
Today, we're going to work on our second lesson about materials.

Yesterday, our question was:   What is a material?
Today, we are asking :     What are objects made of?

Watch the video for Lesson 2:

Year 2 - Have a go at writing the sentences that the teacher in the video asks for.
Year 1 - Listen to the video and talk about the answers with an adult.  You don't need to write the sentences (unless you want to!)

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/what-are-objects-made-from-61gp8d

So, during this week, your observation task is to look at lots of different objects and identify the materials that they are made from.
I wonder how many different materials you will identify?

There isn't a writing task for this activity.  Just enjoy exploring and observing.  We will share our ideas and observations next week.

PE
For your exercise today, maybe you will go outside, or how about joining yesterday's PE session with Joe Wicks?

Thankyou for working so hard on your activities.  I have enjoyed looking at the work that has been sent in this week.
Please let me know if you have any worries or if there is anything I can help you with.

Mrs Lewis will be with you tomorrow and she is looking forward to seeing you all on teams.  Work hard and try your best.  I'll be back with you on Monday.
Take care and try to be helpful at home. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
