Sumdog
Today, I would also like you to log into Sumdog maths.  The activities on Sumdog help you to get quicker with your recall facts (KIRFs).  Please ask an adult to test you on the KIRF objective that you have been practising.  Remember, to tick it off on your planet sheet, you must know the facts instantly.  It might take you a few weeks to become fast enough... keep practising!  If you are trying to learn the names of the months, have a look at today's story 'One Year with Kipper'

Spelling and Phonics
Please practise this week's spellings.  Fill in the words on the spelling log for Day 3.

You might like to practise your phonics by spending some time on phonics play.

 Phonics

Please practice the sounds and blend words, using the interactive games found on the link below:
https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/
username: jan21   password: home
This link will take you to the home page. Click on the log in, then go to 'Resources'.  Here you will see the games to choose from.  Within the games, there are different levels.  You can start with easier questions then challenge yourself with the harder ones.  Today, please spend at least 20 minutes working on:
Year 1 -
Rocket Rescue and Space Race
Year 2 - Choose a game from Phase 5

Reading

Please spend at least 20 minutes each day on reading or sharing a book with an adult.
If you have finished your school reading book, you can read books that you have at home or access books online.
Please see https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/  Free ebooks

Year 2 – Don’t forget to do an AR quiz when you have finished your reading book.   https://ukhosted79.renlearn.co.uk/6706937/

Here is today's book for sharing:

Click on the picture to start the video.

Remember, you can practise your reading skills by turning the volume off and then read the words in the book yourself. You could then enjoy listening to the story afterwards.

English - Grammar work
Adjectives
Last term, we spent lots of time thinking about the different types of words:

Nouns are naming words
Verbs are action or 'doing words'
Adjectives are words that describe things:

We are going to focus on adjectives.  We are going to look at adjectives (describing words) in yesterday's story 'The Runaway Iceberg'
You can read it again if you would like to:

Adjectives to describe the iceberg could be huge or white.
Adjectives to describe the sea could be cold, deep or blue.
Can you think of any other describing words for the iceberg and sea?

We could write:  The sea is deep, cold and blue.

Year 1:  Please copy the sentence about the sea.
Then, write a sentence about the iceberg that includes some describing words.
Can you write a sentence to describe the penguins?
Please underline the adjectives (describing words)

Year 2:  Please can you write two sentences using interesting adjectives.
1.  A sentence to describe the penguins
2, A sentence to describe the iceberg

Next, think about the describing words that could go in the spaces in this activity.  The title is 'Brave Explorers!'   It is a job advert, for someone to go and join the crew. Read the adjectives at the bottom of the page.  Choose a suitable adjective to go in each of the spaces.  Copy the sentences into your book and fill in the missing words.

Science - Everyday Materials and Their Uses
Today, we’re going to start a new unit of work.  We will still be working on our science skills but instead of focussing on Seasonal Changes, we will be thinking about Materials.  Don’t forget to keep a look out for all the signs in nature that tell us about the changing seasons.

Our first question is: What is a material?
Watch the video for Lesson 1 to get some ideas.

https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/what-is-a-material-74u30t?activity=video&step=1

Then, use these activity sheet to gather your observations about objects made from different materials:

    -Materials 1 activity 1.docx-             -Materials 1 Activity 2.docx-

PE
For your exercise today, how about some mindfulness yoga?

Please let me know if you have any worries or if there is anything I can help you with.
Take care and look after each other.
