It's very important that we do plenty of exercise each day.  You might like to go outside for some exercise or do a workout with Joe Wicks. Here is a recording of yesterday's class. It can be done at any time, but you might like to do it this morning, as we usually have PE on Tuesday morning.

I look forward to seeing you on our video call later.   Remember to press the 'mute' button when you join, then 'unmute it when you are speaking.  Don't worry if you can't join or you have a problem accessing the Teams site - just carry on completing the work from this page.

Work to send in
Each day, I will choose one piece of work or activity that I would like you to send to me.

You can take a photograph or scan the work, then send it to me  - class2@gfschools.co.uk
Try your best with all the activities and keep your work neat and tidy.  Please keep all your work together in your book or a folder and write the date on each piece of work.

When you have finished , you can check your answers with an adult.

(Parents, answers at the bottom of this page.)
Please practise this week's spellings.  Fill in the words on the spelling log for Day 2.  Are you getting better at remembering the words on this week's list?

Please spend at least 20 minutes each day on reading or sharing a book with an adult.
If you have finished your school reading book, you can read books that you have at home or access books online.
Please see https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/  Free ebooks

Year 2 – Don’t forget to do an AR quiz when you have finished your reading book.   https://ukhosted79.renlearn.co.uk/6706937/

Today our English work is Guided Reading.  We are going to share a story called 'The Runaway Iceberg'

English - Guided Reading

Today, we are going to work on our reading
comprehension skills. This means that we will be thinking about how well we understand what is  happening  in a story.  The other reading skills that we will practise are sequencing the order of events and predicting what could happen next.
First, let's share the story '
The Runaway Iceberg' with an adult.  Try to join in and read the words that you know and listen carefully if someone is reading to you.
The story is written on this powerpoint. Open the powerpoint into slideshow to enable the interactive features. Left click to move on and click on the questions, as you move through the story.

-Guided Reading Questions PowerPoint.pptx-

Discuss the questions and answers as you read through the story.
Then, here are the tasks for you to do:

Year One:  Cut out the pictures from the story, then stick them in the right order.   -Story Sequencing Map.pdf-

Year Two: Please answer the comprehension questions below.  Read the questions, then write the answers in your book.
(You can do the Story Sequencing Map as well, if you want to!)

To finish our Guided reading:

Please draw or paint a picture to show the characters in the story.

Music -
Listen to the music being played in this short penguin video.
Which instruments can you hear?
How does the music make you feel?    This piece is taken from music 'Carnival of Animals' written by a French man called Saint-Saens, over  a hundred years ago. He wrote sections of music to describe lots of different animals.
Do you like this music?

I hope that you have enjoyed today's activities.
Please let me know if you have any worries or if there is anything I can help you with.
Take care and look after each other.
Mrs Micklefield
