Class 2 - Christmas Countdown!

04 Dec 2020

We had an exciting start to the week, as Christmas arrived in Class 2!
We've had a lot of fun playing outside in our Elves' Workshop and Santa's grotto.

Listening to stories is one of our favourite activities and we have particularly enjoyed sharing lots of Christmas themed books.

We focussed on finding out about the meaning of Advent.  We learnt that Advent is a time of getting ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus, on Christmas Day.  We began by thinking about the Angel Gabriel’s visit to Mary, to tell her that she would have a special baby called Jesus.  We then sequenced all the other events that happen in the Nativity story.

We've had fun role-playing to act out the Nativity story, as well as playing with our Nativity puppets and toys. We are also enjoying singing Christmas carols and songs.

Counting and keeping fit...
We’ve been practising counting the number of days before Christmas, using the dates on our Advent Calendar.

We joined in with the Christmas Countdown activities on the Active Advent Calendar.  The School Sports Partnership launched their interactive, active advent calendar on Tuesday and there is a different active challenge each day.
(If you would like to do the activities at home, the Active Calendar can be accessed on the Enrichment page.)

Recycling…Jack put this packaging box to good use. He remembered that L.S. Lowry often used cardboard boxes for his pictures.  Jack decided to follow Lowry’s example and used it to create some artwork, with help from friends!

Alongside all of this fun, we have also been working hard.  We have done most of our end of term tests and we all tried to do our best.

Mrs Micklefield is very pleased with us all.
Have a lovely weekend!
