Fountains School is a North Yorkshire Church of England Controlled Primary School for children 4+ to 11 years.
It is situated in the small village of Grantley approximately five miles west of Ripon. The building was completed in 1989 and children were transferred from Sawley Church of England School to the new school. The schools of Galphay and Grantley were closed and pupils attending these schools were similarly transferred.
The governors of the school take a full and active part in the running and caring of the school. As their responsibilities increase they take every care in co-opting relevant and helpful people to give advice on the financial aspects of the school and maintenance of the building.
Our links with parents are key and we welcome any support parents can offer. The PTA which we have named Friends Of Fountains, work tirelessly to raise funds to enrich the experiences of the children.
Having a church foundation the school maintains close links with the churches in the area, inviting local clergy into school to lead collective worship once a week and taking part in festivals.
We are federated with Grewelthorpe CE Primary School and we are also part of the Ripon Rural cluster and the Harrogate Teaching Alliance. The aim of these partnerships is to provide the best education and opportunities for all those children and young people who attend any of our partner schools. By collaborating and creating strong networks between the schools our mission is to use our strength as a group to ensure that enthusiasm, expertise and resources are used efficiently and for the best of any child, no matter where they are educated, whilst still keeping and celebrating the diversity of our schools.
All admissions are completed in accordance with the school and LA's admissions policies. Children living in the school's catchment area are normally offered a place at school. Applications from parents living out of the catchment area should be made to the Harrogate Education Office. The current planned admission number is 15 children per year group. Prospective parents are welcome to look around the school and should contact the school office to make an appointment. Parents wishing to enrol their children should complete an admission form and parental preference form.
