Class 4 Historians

13 Sep 2019

We have enjoyed investigating our current history topic, Ancient Maya. We began by understanding when the Ancient civilisation of Maya was most prominent. We then considered what came before and after, and also what was happening in British history at the same time.

We then looked at where the Ancient Maya people lived, which we discovered was an area in Central America known as Mesoamerica. We have learnt about the 5 modern day countries which Mesoamerica covered.

The children have considered the questions about Ancient Maya that they want to answer and have also began to use and define some of the vocabulary associated with the Mayas.

The children have also researched the religion and Gods that the Maya people believed in.
We were particularly intrigued by the story of the Hero twins.

We are very much looking forward to our trip to York chocolate story next Friday, the 20th. We’re looking forward to finding out even more about Ancient Maya.
